Here is a great resource to give parents insight as to how teachers evaluate student writing. Have a look at pages 18-23 in the attached document. Students continue to be exposed to writing on a daily basis to help build confidence in their writing abilities.

When it's too cold outside to catch snowflakes, why not try to inside? That's right, our Grade 1 students did just that. Well not literally, but artistically! Have a look at their wonderful creations. My students continue to amaze me.
In science, we have commenced our unit on living things. The students and I had a collaborative discussion about what living things need in order to survive and then came up with examples of things that are living. Here is a snapshot of some of our ideas.
Students have been enjoying our unit on data management. They are learning how to organize information in order to make better sense of it. They have enjoyed creating questions and learning more about their peers' interests.
Before heading off on Holidays, students got to say goodbye to our special elf Graeme. He was watching over us and reporting back to Santa. Before he left, he allowed us to spray him with our "Magic Spray" in order for us to hug him before his departure. The students were so excited to have this opportunity.
