We have been talking about Lent and how we must turn to prayer. Students have been learning about Almsgiving and the importance of helping those in need. We will be talking about the Easter story as it approaches. Have a look at the beautiful art creations students made.
We were so lucky to have lessons on how to play HURLING! It is an Irish game resembling field hockey. Players use shorter sticks with a broader oval blade. It is the national game played in Ireland. Have a look at all the smiles. EVERYONE enjoyed it, even Mrs. _ _ _ _!
It was such a pleasure to read all the wonderful monster writing pieces that students created. Their monsters are now hanging in our classroom! I am so impressed with how far the group has come. The winner for this challenge is:
DAVID! Have a look at his work below The students have been enjoying a great day as we celebrate the 100th school day! They have been making crowns and engaging in activities that all deal with the number 100.
I am pleased to say that most students did an excellent job in their "Love Is" writing challenge. It was hard to pick the winners, but after much consideration and discussions, here are the top three: 1st Place: Hailey 2nd Place: Ryan 3rd Place: Abigail I am so proud of ALL students for continuing to work hard and enhance their writing skills. Keep up the great work everyone!
We held a collaborative discussion about what love means to students. These ideas will help us with our next writing challenge pertaining to love. Have a look and read the wonderful comments students made. Love is definitely in the air in our classroom (lol).
For an extra exciting writing activity, this month 1 lucky student will have the chance to win a special bear. We have been focusing a lot on the conventions of print. Students have been reminded to use UPPER and lower case letters, animals letters, punctuation, etc. in their writing. Students will be writing about love. I will be using the "SUPER 6" rubric to determine the winner. I am also looking for 4-Star colouring in their illustration that will accompany their writing piece. In religion, students have been learning the importance of family with a primary focus on relationships. We have been talking about how people express love and decide to get married in a church. This allows God to be a part of their special day, sharing their promise to love one another. They also make the decision to allow God to help guide their lives as they embark on a new chapter. Next, we will be talking about how couples decide to start families. The students loved sharing wedding photos of their parents. Thank you to these two families for allowing me to post a photo of their special day.
As February brings Valentine's day, students are reminded that we can express love in many forms. The students created beautiful visual art representations that were inspired by the art of Jim Dines. We decided that we would give our love and hearts to Jesus. Have a look!
